Theatre
The Notre Dame High School theatre department offers both in-class and extracurricular opportunities for students to work in all areas of the theatre. In class, students will get a taste and appreciation for the three main areas of the theatre arts: acting, technical theatre, and theatre history. Students will learn important acting skills while performing in scenes both solo and in small groups, as well as explore the design world while focusing on costume, set, lighting, and sound design.
Notre Dame Theatre produces two full-length theatre productions each year during the fall and spring semesters. The fall production will typically be a straight play (non-musical), while the spring production will alternate between a full-length musical and a straight play each year. Past productions include titles such as You Can’t Beat the House, You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, Grease, and The Monologue Show. All Notre Dame students are encouraged to audition for both productions!
Notre Dame is a member of the International Thespian Society Troupe #8672. This organization is the only international honor society for high school theatre arts students—a recognized demonstration of achievement and a valuable addition to college and employment applications. The Thespian troupe is a subset of the theatre arts program. Any student may be a member of the theatre program, but only students who have been officially inducted and registered with the EdTA national office are members of the theatre program and the International Thespian Society.
