College Guidance

The mission of the Notre Dame High School Comprehensive School Guidance and Counseling Program is to provide professional, service oriented, spiritual based guidance and counseling services that will assist students in the successful completion of graduation requirements and transition to post- secondary education.

The Comprehensive School Guidance and Counseling Program will provide information and resources as part of the college admissions process and we expect parents and students to take advantage of services and be actively involved in this very important and personal decision. Naviance is the primary tool being used for NDHS college guidance. Everyone, parents and students grades 9 - 12, will receive the information needed to access individual career and college guidance electronic portfolios through Family Connection. Through small group/classroom Guidance Sessions each year, students will complete assessments, inventories and surveys and explore various features of Family Connection. From that point, students and parents will be given suggested activities to aid in the continuation of this very individual process of self-discovery (Freshman year focus), career/college major interest (Sophomore year focus), college search (Junior year focus) and college choice and admissions process (Senior year focus).

Family Connection from Naviance® provides a powerful interactive link between school and home with an individualized, customized, secure website that supports planning and advising for Notre Dame High School and beyond. Family Connection helps students and parents make better decisions about college opportunities and career plans through information sharing and search engines as well as personalized inventories and surveys. It is designed as a useful tool that begins during freshman year and will be utilized, updated and revised throughout high school as part of the comprehensive College Guidance Program.
