As the number one player for the Fighting Irish this year John Dorris finished the regular season 9-2. His focus and determination on the court helped his team win a spot in the state tournament, and the boys went on to finish second in the State Team Tournament.
John went on to win the District championship, the Region championship and earned his own berth in the State Individual

SCHILLER PARK, Ill., April 21, 2010 – As captain of his football and soccer teams, John David Bruce, a senior from Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga, Tenn., truly leads by example. Dedicated to his community, academics and the playing field, Bruce excels in all aspects of his life. Recognized as the 2009 Hammer Strength Football Player of the Year, Bruce played football and soccer all four years of his high school career, put in extra volunteer hours in his community in his free time, all the while maintaining a 3.98 grade point average.

Kyle Wittler has signed and committed to play golf at Lipscomb University. Kyle has been a member of the Notre Dame golf team for four years. In his junior and senior year the team placed first in the district and region championships. Personally, Kyle was selected as 2009-2010 Player of the Year for Best of Preps in golf by the Times Free Press. Kyle finished his senior year earning first place as an individual in the District Tournament.

Kayla Butler signed a letter of intent to play softball for Wesleyan College. Kayla was a four year starter for the Notre Dame Softball Team as a short stop and center fielder.

In Rowing, the Men's Varsity 4 (Chris Debarge, Conor Delaney, Eric DeValle, Zach Boyette and Danielle Anderson-coxwain) won the Southeast Regional Championship in Sarasota, FL and will go on to compete at Nationals in Cincinnati in early June. The Women's Varsity 4 (including Lindsey McGirl) also qualified for Nationals.

THE FIGHTING IRISH BOYS' TENNIS TEAM IS THE DISTRICT 7 A-AA TEAM CHAMPIONS FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW!! They clinched the title with their 6-0 win over Van Buren County. Not only that, they are undefeated in the district!!

Notre Dame Senior Andy Helms signed a letter of intent to play soccer for Bryan College. Andy is a 4 year starter for the Notre Dame Soccer Team.Andy received the Rookie of the Year Award his freshman year, was named to the all-District team his sophomore year, was selected to the Best of Preps his junior year and is currently a team captain.

Danielle Ciabattone, a senior at Notre Dame High School, recently signed and committed to play soccer for Lee University. Danielle was a 2-time All-State performer as a midfielder for the Lady Irish and was selected for three years in a row by the Times/Free-Press as a member of the Best of Preps soccer team. Her third year on the Best of Preps team, she was honored as the Player of the Year for the Chattanooga area.

On Wednesday, November 11th, Notre Dame’s Troy Tillman signed a letter of intent to swim for the University of Tennessee. Troy is a national high school All-American in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. He was recruited by Indiana University, Virginia Tech and Florida State, but ultimately decided that Tennessee was the right place for him athletically and academically.

Troy Tillman finished his High School swimming career in style winning both the 50 and 100 freestyle events at theTennessee State High School Championships. His times in both events make him an automatic All-American and he set two new school records. Tillman is now a 2-time State Champion and 5 time All-American swimmer.
The boys 400 free relay, which consisted of Conor Delaney, Zach Rutledge, Chris Debarge and Troy Tillman placed 8th and smashed the existing school record by 11 seconds. The same four swam the 200 free relay and placed 2nd in the state, set a new school record, and swam a time fast enough to make all 4 swimmers automatic All-Americans.
Conor Delaney, Chris Debarge, and Zach Rutledge will be named individual Academic All-Americans. In addition, the entire boys varisty swim team qualified for National Scholar Team recognition.

The Lady Irish Soccer team concluded it's season with a 6-0 District record, an overall record of 16-3-3, the District and Region Championship and were Runners-Up in the State Championship game by the narrow margin of 2-1!

GIRLS’ SOCCER
Danielle Ciabattone was named the 2009 Best of Preps Player of the Year. Coach Schermerhorn was name Best of Preps Coach of the Year for the second time in three seasons. Carey Leiper was also named to the 2009 Best of Preps Team and Michelle Spangler, Kathryn Healy and Grace Courter received Honorable Mention.
Additionally, Danielle Ciabattone, Carey Leiper and Michelle Spangler were selected for the Tennessee High School Soccer Coaches Association 2009 A/AA All-State Team
