Matt Irvin

Matt Irvin has been teaching at Notre Dame since 1999 and has been the Department Chair since 2000.   Mr. Irvin received his B.S. in biology with a concentration in chemistry and a minor in religion from Grove City College in Pennsylvania.  He currently teaches Honors Chemistry, AP Biology and AP Environmental Science. He also acts as advisor to the Knitting Club.

 

 

Linda Farnsley

Linda Farnsley has been teaching at Notre Dame since 1999. She holds a B.S. in Biology from Western Kentucky University and a degree in Medical Technology from Baptist Hospital in Nashville, where she worked for several years in the Microbiology Department. Her teacher certification is from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She has two sons who are Notre Dame alumni. Mrs. Farnsley currently teaches Biology I, Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology and Genetics and also serves as co-sponsor of the Student Leadership Council.

 

 

Kevin Horne

Kevin Horne joined the Notre Dame faculty in 2004. Dr. Horne holds a B.S. in Biology from Hampton University and a M.D. from Morehouse School of Medicine. He completed his M.Ed. with a concentration in Secondary Biology at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He has taught in the Hamilton County school system and in the Bibb County school system in Georgia. In addition to teaching Honors Biology and CP Biology, Dr. Horne is the Chess Club faculty advisor.

   

Barbara McGirl

Barbara McGirl joined the Notre Dame faculty in 2007. Her classes this year include AP Physics, Honors Physics, ACP Physics and CP Chemistry. She holds a B.S. in chemistry with a minor in biology from MTSU, and an M.Ed. in secondary education: chemistry and biology from UTC. Since graduating from MTSU, Mrs. McGirl worked in two research laboratories, stayed home with her children, and taught junior high science. She and her husband have two daughters at NDHS, and one son at St. Jude School.

   

Kristina Ory

Kristina Ory joined the faculty in 2006 to teach physics and chemistry.  She has a B.S. degree in Biology and an M.A. in General Counseling from Louisiana Tech. She previously worked at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas in pharmaceutical research, and coordinating patient care.
 

   

Catherine Pala

Catherine Pala joined the Notre Dame faculty in 2005. She has her BS in Chemistry and her MS in Organic Chemistry from the University of Tennessee. She teaches AP and ACP Chemistry courses. Prior to Notre Dame, she worked as an organic chemist at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture synthesizing a vaccine for cows. She has prior teaching experience in chemistry with the University of Tennessee in chemistry, and in organic chemistry at Pellissippi State Technical Community College. She is also the sponsor of the environmental club.
