Library Media Center

The Notre Dame High School Library Media Center is dedicated to providing:

  • Intellectual growth for students, faculty and the Notre Dame community
  • Resources and activities that contribute to lifelong learning including those that strengthen a love of reading
  • A user-friendly environment that encourages self-sufficiency in the use of the facilities
  • Service to those seeking truth using the many forms of the word available to us


Hours of Operation:

The Library Media Center is open from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. The LMC is closed on Wednesday afternoon from 2:40 – 3:30 for all staff meetings.

The Library Information Specialist is on duty each day from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

After School Care under the direct supervision of a staff member is from 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.  Fees for After School Care begin at 4:00 p.m.
 

Library Media Center Policy:

The LMC operates on a flexible schedule. The LMC is open to all students before school, during lunch and after school. Students may use the LMC during the school day either with a scheduled class or with permission from their supervising teachers.

Circulating materials may be checked out for four weeks.

The Computer/Online Services Acceptable Use Policy is located in the Student Handbook and on the links on this page. It is the student’s responsibility to be aware of the policy and to be in compliance at all times. Basically, student use of computers/online services while on school grounds is for educational purposes only. Students who violate the policy are subject to discipline referral.

Newspapers: The Chattanooga Times Free Press, USA Today, East Tennessee Catholic

Magazines and Journals: The LMC subscribes to 35 of America’s top magazines and journals

Other items include reference materials and textbooks for LMC use only; a professional library of both print and non-print resources; and an extensive collection of circulating materials including titles on teacher reading lists.

           

The Virtual Library:
Located on the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) link, the OPAC contains

  • SEARCH -- A catalog of LMC holdings
  • STUDY PROGRAMS – Reading lists
  • LINKS – Online resources including Britannica Online, the Tennessee Electronic Library, library sponsored wikis, Salem Press e-books, the World and Its Peoples, and recommended websites including Catholic sites and bibliographic citation formatting
